300000000 quick what is it?
I hate that in code. I want more programming languages to behave like Perl and allow me to specify a separator between units of a multiple of 1000. So I could write that number in the title as:
300_000_000
now you quickly know it’s 300 million, no? I respect that a comma in a programming language has a tighter binding to the semantics of the linguistic comma but some other token can be used to make constants more readable. Heck, period is overloaded in languages why not comma?
why not a reading group?
Not really a book group. Our lives are so busy that just finding time to read can be hard. “Go Go Go” seems to be the mantra of the times. When I go on a vacation I don’t bring my iPod, my computer nor do I want a TV. Instead I load up on books. So, why not a group of people that meet up at a fixed time just to read. Not the same book. No discussion about a group book, just forced time to be quiet and read. I like that idea. This might be better with friends for it would seem odd to hang out with strangers who as a group are committed to reading, that seems rather antisocial. Perhaps just friends whose silent company you enjoy.
White Mountain Variety Pack
I picked up this variety 12 pack while driving through VT a while back. I definitely recommend picking it up. It was a great sampling of beer from NH. In this pack there was:
- Pigs Ear Brown Ale.
- Red Rack Ale.
- Pemi Pale Ale.
While they were all good the Red Rack Ale was particularly good. I recommend it. Here’s a link to the brewery: www.woodstockinnbrewery.com
Sorry I don’t remember the particulars, I drank these beers many months ago.
